Soft Adventure in Thailand – Unforgettable Experiences for First Time Explorers

If the word “adventure” makes you picture dangling off a cliff or jumping from a plane, pause your panic. We’re here to hard launch the soft adventure travel style. Think – meaningful and unforgettable experiences without the panic attack and maybe a spa day added to your itinerary. It’s not about testing your limits, it’s about expanding your senses. Thailand is a perfect destination for those looking for gentle adventure, non-touristy activities, and truly unforgettable experiences that will give you memories and stories for life. If you’re craving connection, culture, and maybe just a dash of wild, Thailand is the place for you.

Places to See:

  • Bangkok – for the city goers and high rise lovers, Bangkok is a must see when visiting Thailand. Lounge in a pool on a rooftop overlooking the city, or explore many of the street markets with foods you’ve never heard of. It’s safe, locals are friendly, and it’s certainly a culture shock in itself when you step off the plane.
  • Chiang Mai – Thailands “nature’ city with over 300 temples to explore. Chiang Mai is the next popular city to visit in Thailand, but boasts incredible opportunities to get into nature – think waterfalls, hot springs, and of course elephant sanctuaries
  • Koh Samui – Anyone watch White Lotus? Aside from the show Koh Samui is a gorgeous island with tons to do. Bonus, stay in one of the many high end resorts and treat yourself to a glorious spa day
  • Phi Phi Islands – Explore the absolute beauty of the Thai islands. Every island is a little different which adds to it’s charm and makes island hopping a very popular thing to do.

Unforgettable and Must Do Experiences

  • Elephant Sanctuary – connect with the gentle giants in one of the many ethical elephant sanctuaries. Feed, bathe, and walk with the largest mammals on earth. It’s the most thrilling experience without the threat of a sprained ankle.
    • Note – Do NOT visit a place that allows riding elephants. These are not ethical sanctuaries and are using them for profit. Please do your research before visiting
  • Long Boat Tour – take a private long boat tour around the islands. Bonus if you do the sunset version as they’ll usually set up a beach picnic dinner for you.
    • Note – Private is a much better experience than a group tour and is not much more in terms of cost.
  • Visit during Thai New Year – want a wild and unforgettable experience that feels just as wholesome? Visit Thailand (specifically Koh Samui) during Thai New Year. The annual water festival is considered a “cleansing” of the old year as you head into the new one. It brings worldly connection, authenticity, adventure, and ultimately fun.
  • Get a Thai Massage – just do it. Best places will be on the street in the bigger cities and you can generally get a 1 hour massage for ~$30.
  • Visit a Temple – want to really feel connected to something outside of yourself? Visit a Temple and don’t be surprised when you’re overcome with a feeling of peace and serenity.
  • Eat Street Food – you can walk almost any street and find rows and rows of vendors. Branch out and try new things you wouldn’t eat back home. The food is incredible, cheap, and just trying something new can be an adventure in itself. All wins.
If you’re looking for a little adventure, and a little R&R, Thailand is the perfect destination for your next journey. It provides the thrill without the exhaustion. It’s a destination that rejuvenates your soul without having to test your limits.
